A few weeks ago I was at the gym and saw a poster for a new class called Max10...a 10 week interval based kickboxing/cardio class with a nutrition component. I was interested, so I started asking questions. By the time I met with the instructor in person the class was full...but this was an answer to a prayer because I was not 100% sure of taking the class or its cost. But that conversation finally gave me the search terms to finally have a lightbulb moment to feed my husband the way he wants to eat...6 meals a day. I"m still working to put it into terms that will work for our young family. We have 2 growing boys who willingly ate a spring green salad with supper night.
Last summer we purchased our first CSA share. We were pleased with the return on our money, even with the challenges presented by Mother Nature and the 2008 rains/flooding. My husband started riding his bike to work and eating more veggies, and finally had some success with weight loss. I know there is a connection (more research will be done when he starts to ride to work again.)
I like real food. I cook from scratch most nights of the week. Yes, I get bored with my cooking, who doesn't? (My husband is a MUCH better cook! But I do most of the cooking.) This is my journal towards improving our health. I have been working out 4x a week since the beginning of the year with NO change. Something has to give, but what? So after almost committing myself to the 10 week class, the frustration of no change, my fitness trainer leaving the gym, and having my first class reunion this summer, after 15 years, something needs to change.
I have "dissowned" my mother's genetics...I am only accepting the geens of my Maternal Great Grandma (she lived to 99.5) and my Paternal Grandma who will be 88 this spring. They are both active women who did not have as significant change in body type as they went through mid-age as my Mother and Maternal Grandma have had...this is my fear. I am also VERY concerned about Type II diabeties as it has become VERY prevalent in my family.
Last week I took off from the gym. Today my alarm didn't go off because it was not charged, but I was very consious about my eating. I go to the gym at 5AM for about an hour 4 days a week. I don't like going , but I do it anyway. Today I ordered Jonathan R's NEWO system, to go with the heart rate monitor I recieved for Christmas. I am goign to use the NEWO combined with Clean Eating to make some changes!!!
My eating challanges...I want something for me after lunchtime when the kids are napping. I eat snack food with the kids after school. I snack while cooking. I have not been eating after supper, but maybe I should have 1 more meal for 6 meals?
Oh, now that you have read my entire post I"m sure you are wondiering about the title for my blog. My husband and I have an ongoing "dissagreement" as to what the evening meal is called. I grew up calling it supper, he grew up calling it dinner. I cook so its usually called supper. Dinner is held at NOON on Sunday or when eating with family. Lunch is the noon meal durring the week.
